FPTech Returns & Refund Policy

 

1. 7-Day “Change of Mind” Return Window

If you wish to return a product for any reason other than a defect, you may request a return within 7 calendar days of delivery.

  • Condition for Acceptance: Items must be returned in their original, unopened, and pristine packaging. We cannot accept returns if seals are broken, boxes are opened, or components have been used, powered up, or tested.

  • Handling Fee: All “Change of Mind” returns are subject to a non-negotiable R100 handling charge to cover administration and restocking costs.

  • Shipping: Original shipping fees are non-refundable. The cost and risk of returning the item to our premises in Pretoria are for the customer’s account.

2. Sale and “As-Is” Exclusions

  • Regular Priced Items Only: Only regular priced items may be refunded. Sale items and promotional clearance items cannot be refunded.

  • “As-Is” (Voetstoots) Items: Certain items, including “Bargain Bin” stock and second-hand goods, are sold “As-Is”. These are sold with all existing faults (disclosed or otherwise), and no refunds, returns, or exchanges will be permitted.

3. Product-Specific Warranties

While we adhere to the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), specific warranty periods may vary depending on the nature of the electronic component or device. Please refer to the specific product page for the warranty duration applicable to that item.

4. Non-Returnable Technical Items

To maintain technical integrity and safety for all customers, the following items are strictly non-returnable:

  • Consumables: batteries, and chemical cleaners.

  • Custom Orders: Any units or projects configured, or manufactured to your specific requirements.

  • Modified Components: Any microcontrollers (ESP32, etc.), sensors, or modules that have been soldered, programmed, or physically modified.

  • Cut-to-Length Goods: Custom-cut lengths of cabling, wire, or fibre-optic patching.

5. Defective or Faulty Goods

If a product is found to be technically defective within its stated warranty period:

  • Assessment: The item must be returned to FPTech for a technical assessment. This process may take up to 15 business days.

  • Exclusions: The warranty does not cover damage caused by electrical surges (including load shedding related spikes), “brownouts,” incorrect installation, reverse polarity, user-error in programming, or physical misuse.

  • Remedy: If a manufacturing defect is confirmed, we will repair, replace, or refund the item at our discretion.

6. Damaged or Incorrect Deliveries

  • Transit Damage: Please inspect your parcel immediately upon arrival. Any transit damage must be reported to FPTech within 24 hours of receipt to facilitate a claim with the courier.

  • Incorrect Items: If you receive an item different from what you ordered, notify us within 7 days. We will exchange it at our expense, provided it remains in its original, unopened packaging.

7. Rejected Returns & Abandoned Items

If a return is inspected and rejected (e.g., the item was a sale item, was damaged by the customer, is missing parts, or was used):

  • Return Shipping: The customer is responsible for the shipping costs to have the rejected item sent back to them.

  • Storage & Disposal: We will hold rejected items for 30 calendar days from the date of notification. If shipping is not paid or the item is not collected within this window, the item will be deemed abandoned and will be disposed of or recycled at FPTech’s discretion without compensation.

8. Processing of Approved Refunds

  • Refunds are only processed via the original payment method used for purchase.

  • Please allow 10–12 business days for the refund to be processed and for funds to reflect in your account.

  • The R100 handling fee and any initial shipping costs will be deducted from the final refund total.
